Shipka Talk

This past Thursday I had the chance to listen to Jody Shipka talk at Florida State Univeristy. Going into it I knew very little about her but after her speech I realized just how amazing she was. She spoke for about an hour and showed a 12 minute movie that she had created. She brought up Manning techniques and Stewart’s texts. She was a very deep lady, with lots of layers. She kept joking how if it’s after 4 am she has crazy thoughts. When discussing her video project that she created she explained how by creating her project when she is done she realizes what she could have done instead. A lot of the members in the audience were teachers who asked her how to create projects for their students to do that allowed them to be creative but in a way that is not forced especially when deadlines are such a big part of college curriculum. The experience as a whole was very eye opening and showed me just how passionate and knowledgable those in my major can be.
